Porcelain Veneers

What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or a composite resin material, which are bonded directly to the front of teeth. This procedure is an ideal choice for improving the appearance of your front teeth. They are often placed to mask discolorations, which cannot be fixed with conventional whitening procedures, or to even out teeth that may have been broken down or roughened over the years.

When bonded to the teeth, porcelain veneers are virtually undetectable and highly resistant to coffee, tea, or even cigarette stains. They are also very durable with proper care and precautions.

Veneer Procedure
The entire Veneer Procedure may take up to three appointments. These appointments include diagnosis, treatment planning, preparation and bonding. This is the time when your new smile will be designed, be ready to make some important decisions!

At the preparation visit your teeth will be lightly buffed to allow for the small thickness of the porcelain veneer. Once all teeth to be veneered have been buffed, an impression will be taken to send to the lab. Temporary veneers will be placed on the teeth and the case sent to the lab. It takes approximately 2 weeks to get back your brand new smile.

At the bonding appointment we will place each veneer on each tooth to the check the fit and the color. Once all have been adjusted and you are happy with the results, they will be permanently cemented to your teeth.

Veneers, just like crowns, take some time to get used to. Instructions will be given for care including brushing and flossing. A bite guard or occlusal guard may also be suggested to extend the life of your veneers.

Before & after
Review

On Friday morning, my crown came off. I was able to get an appointment for 12:30 that day to have the crown place back on the tooth. The people at Desert Dentistry were very friendly and by 1:15 I was on my way to lunch.
