The disposable instruments are properly disposed and are not sterilized for reuse. The hand instruments are ultrasonically cleaned in a highly concentrated solution, which is more effective in penetrating areas such as crevices and joints of instruments. After the instruments are cleaned, they are completely sterilized with a steam autoclave.
In order to prevent instrument contamination, we place all instruments, burs, and hand pieces in pouches that are sealed to maintain effective sterilization. These pouches have built-in indicator strips that ensure the instruments have undergone sterilization.
Additionally, we do weekly monitoring to check the effectiveness of our sterilization. By following proper sterilization procedures, we are providing our patients at Desert Dentistry the best possible protection.
On Friday morning, my crown came off. I was able to get an appointment for 12:30 that day to have the crown place back on the tooth. The people at Desert Dentistry were very friendly and by 1:15 I was on my way to lunch.
